About

Professor Robert J. Wierzbicki (b.1959 in Poland) graduated at Wroclaw University of Technology, Poland, with MSc degree (Dipl.-Ing. Univ) in Electronics specializing in Device Technology. His diploma thesis was completed at the Institute of Low Temperature and Structure Research at the Polish Academy of Sciences. On completion of his degree he first worked at the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits in Erlangen, Germany and was later appointed research assistant to the Chair of Electron Devices at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany, where he wrote his PhD thesis in 1994. Dr. Wierzbicki holds the doctorate in engineering sciences.

Upon completion of his doctoral thesis Dr. Wierzbicki set up his own company, Media Integration, which developed multimedia applications for the transfer of knowledge and technology. During 2000-2001 Doctor Wierzbicki was managing director of eCompetence Centre's Multimedia Division and since 2001 he has been the director of his own company, WIERZBICKI.ORG, a Cross Media Network which focuses on developing solutions in the areas of multimedia, design, digital art, knowledge transfer and eLearning for customers in Europe and in the USA. In 2003 Dr. Wierzbicki was appointed professor of Online Media at the University of Applied Sciences in Mittweida, Germany ( www.me.hs-mittweida.de/index.php?id=1318 ). Prof. Wierzbicki lectures on cross-media production, media technology, media theory, media design, simulation and visualization, eLearning and eBusiness.

2004-2006 Prof. Wierzbicki was Technology Coordinator for the Instructors Network of the European Academy of Digital Media. Since 2005 he has been a member of the MOST (Mobile Open Society Though Wireless Technology) Think Tank. Professor Wierzbicki is expert in digital media, author of numerous publications and winner of prestigious awards in communication media. He is also evaluator in accreditation of educational programs and specialist in international standards and procedures.

Professor Wierzbicki  is the head of the Amient Media Research Group ( www.fgam.de ) at the University of Applied Sciences in Mittweida ( www.hs-mittweida.de ) and science advisor for the GAMECAST project ( www.gamecast-tv.com ).  He is initiator of the Swan Lake: Moing Image & Music Awards program ( www.swan-lake-award.org ), co-founder of the New Age Piano platform ( www.newagepiano.net ) and supporter of the New York Polish Film Festival in the USA (www.nypff.com ).

Since 2011 Professor Wierzbicki is Consortium Member for the European Virtual Academy  (www.evaonlinecourses.eu ).
